3 Things You Should Consider When Remodeling Your Master Bathroom

Remodeling your master bathroom can seem like a very daunting project. So naturally, there are a few things to consider when you are beginning this large project.

How much are you willing to spend?
A simple bathroom remodel can be pretty inexpensive, while a more complicated one can cost much more. It is often difficult to estimate the cost of a master bathroom remodel because the quality of the materials used greatly influences the cost. Some things that can affect the cost are cabinets, mirrors, shelves and other accessories. If you should decide to hire a professional for the job, that will also raise the cost as will the expenses of jobs like electrical wiring and plumbing. However, there are always unforeseen costs that crop up, so leave some room in your budget for these as well.

What kind of remodel do you want to undertake?
At the simpler end of the scale, you can decide to do a surface alteration remodel. This type of remodel involves changing the overall look of the bathroom on the surface, which may entail laying new bathroom tile, installing a new shower, or getting new bathroom fixtures like faucets. A step up from this is changing the layout of your bathroom. Lastly, the most complicated remodel is a complete tear-out in which you completely remodel both the entire bathroom.

Do you want to remodel your bathroom yourself or hire a contractor?

A surface remodel can easily be undertaken without professional help, especially when you will not be changing any of the bathroom’s structure. However, if you are changing the layout of your bathroom, installing a new tiled shower, or something more complicated it is better to hire a contractor. It is also necessary to hire a contractor when doing a complete tear-out due the structural changes involved. If you do decide to hire a professional, make sure that the contractor is properly licensed.

Considering these three simple questions will go a long way in helping you get the bathroom remodeling job done properly (and on time).
